2003: NFL Network kicks off
Capitalizing on its skyrocketing success as America’s most popular team sport, the National Football League inaugurated its own cable channel dedicated to covering all things gridiron. Since its inception, NFL Network has expanded to air Thursday night primetime games, cover rounds of the NFL Draft, and broadcast other species of football such as the Arena League and Canadian Football League. -A.D.
