1926: NBC is officially formed
Created by RCA, Westinghouse, and AT&T, the National Broadcasting Company began operations on this date. The merger represented a combination of several local radio stations in the New York City region into the hubs of a nationwide network. NBC soon developed iconic programming like Amos ‘n’ Andy and The Jack Benny Program, which established it as a cornerstone of American broadcast entertainment. -A.D.
