Rocky and his Friends, as the beloved cartoon series was known in its first two seasons, premiered on ABC. Rocky the Flying Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose played out globe-trotting serial adventures and comic skits. They frequently (and usually inadvertently) pitted against their Cold War-archetype adversaries, Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale, a pair of inept Pottsylvanian spies. Other recurring sketches featured indelible characters such as Dudley Do-Right, Sherman and Peabody, and Aesop with his “Fractured Fairy Tales.” The show moved to NBC for its final three seasons, renamed The Bullwinkle Show. -A.D.
