1955: Mighty Mouse hits the small screen
The animated superheroic rodent created by Terrytoons had stared in theatrical shorts since 1942, but found his greatest popularity after becoming a star of CBS Saturday mornings with the debut of The Mighty Mouse Playhouse. A repurposed collection of Mighty Mouse’s original shorts, the series ran until 1967. -A.D.
