1956: To Tell the Truth premieres
The game show featured a panel of celebrities who queried three contestants in an effort to uncover some unusual fact about one of them. While all three contestants claimed to be the same individual, it was up to the panelists to determine which was telling the truth and which were imposters. Originally airing on CBS until 1968, To Tell the Truth existed in several incarnations on network TV and in syndication. With its final original episode airing in 2002, the show holds the rare distinction of having aired at some point in six consecutive decades. -A.D.
