1951: Hallmark Hall of Fame debuts
Sponsored by the eponymous greeting card company, the anthology series has aired with varying regularity for over 60 years. A forum for television movies, as well as live playhouse dramas in its early days, the Emmy-winning series began on NBC (its home until 1978), but has also logged time on ABC, CBS, and PBS. As one of the only modern programs which includes the name of a single sponsor in its title, Hallmark Hall of Fame remains something of a throwback to the earliest days of television history. -A.D.
