1970: All My Children debuts
The popular ABC soap set in the fictional Philadelphia suburb of Pine Valley ran for 41 years and over 10,000 episodes before bowing in September 2011. Created by veteran daytime writer Agnes Nixon, All My Children is famous for leading lady Susan Lucci as Erica Kane, a role that earned her 21 Emmy nominations and one win in 1999. -A.D.
