2006: Arrested Development concludes
After three critically acclaimed but poorly rated seasons, Fox’s off-kilter sitcom Arrested Development aired its final two broadcast TV episodes. Centered on the eccentric, highly dysfunctional Bluth family, the show gained a cult audience almost immediately and is credited with helping set the tone for many of the TV comedy trends which followed in the 2000s and 2010s. In 2013, the full cast and creative talent reunited for a fourth season produced by and distributed through Netflix, a landmark in the 21st century evolution of the television business model. -A.D.
