2009: Dollhouse debuts
Beginning its regular run on Fox on this date, the dark science fiction series from Joss Whedon fared somewhat more poorly with critics and audiences than his previous series, the long-running Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel and the cult favorite Firefly. The show starred Eliza Dushku as a tool of the shadowy “Dollhouse,” an organization which imprinted personalities, memories, and skills upon brainwashed human beings for rental by wealthy clients. The show fared through a rocky two seasons over the span of just under one calendar year. -A.D.
