1973: The Young and the Restless debuts

With over 10,000 episodes in its 40+ seasons on CBS, The Young and the Restless has been one of the highest rated daytime soaps of its era. It was developed by CBS to compete with ABC’s more youth-oriented soap lineup and went on to win seven Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series. -A.D.
