2009: The Simpsons go postal
To commemorate 20 years of the animated sitcom, the U.S. Postal Service issued a series of five 44-cent stamps honoring Springfield’s first family. Designed by series creator Matt Groening, approximately one billion stamps depicting Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie were produced. -A.D.
