1978: Card Sharks debuts
The first of four incarnations of this Goodson-Todman game show began a three and a half year run on NBC daytime, hosted by Jim Perry. Contestants answered trivia questions for the opportunity to take control of a row of giant playing cards, by successfully guessing whether the next card in the sequence was higher or lower than the previous. Card Sharks was revived on CBS daytime and in syndication in the late 1980s, as well as in a short-lived syndicated version from 2001–2002. -A.D.
