1991: Dinosaurs debuts

The ABC sitcom, partially rooted in concepts developed by Jim Henson shortly before his death, centered on a nuclear family of dinosaurs (portrayed by human-sized puppets) living in a Mesozoic society that closely echoed late 21st century America. Frequently satiric, the show ran for four seasons and 65 episodes before culminating with a memorably bleak series finale-A.D.

Today’s Birthdays: Jordana Brewster, Ewing kin (33); Carol Burnett, comedienne (80); Jason Earles, older brother (36); Giancarlo Esposito, Chicken Man (55); Kevin James, delivery man (48); Marianne Jean-Baptiste, FBI agent (46); Tyler Labine, reaper associate (35); Nancy Lenehan, character actress (60); Vic Perrin, control voice (d. 1989); Stafford Repp, police chief (d. 1974); Tom Welling, Man of Steel (36).
