Nevertheless, Peter Nygard made headlines, and people seemed interested in whether the businessman was dead or alive.

Despite his request, authorities denied him bail, and on February 5, 2021, they scheduled his extradition to the US.

Furthermore, in October 2021, Peter Nygard faced new charges in Canada, including multiple counts of sexual assault and forcible confinement.

The incidents involved occurrences from the mid-1980s to the mid-2000s.

Later, a Canadian jury in Toronto found Nygard guilty of sexual assault in November 2023 after a six-week trial.

However, Nygard’s attorney, Greenspan, referred to the girl’s testimony as absurd and suggested they were gold diggers.

Moreover, in the concluding remarks, the attorney stated,

“To describe Peter Nygard as an evil predator, a Jekyll and Hyde personality who, through wealth and power, lured women to his den of iniquity and forced women to comply with his sexual demands… is neither fair nor accurate,”

To this, another prosecutor, Ana Serban, claimed that Peter Nygard was selective and evasive during his testimony and had inconsistent memory.

Additionally, she also detailed how he invited the victims into his office and sexually assaulted them.

Nevertheless, authorities convicted Peter Nygard, and he is currently serving time in prison as a result.

Moreover, the incident took a toll on the former prominent fashion executive’s net worth, which was estimated to be C$900 million in 2017.

It is because, since the incident, the business has declared bankruptcy and gone into receivership.
